Beach Fest: The Short Review.

The event started at 2pm although the crowd flooded the Mayang Sari Resort since 1pm. Dungeon Community banner was hooked up in the cozy hall (which by the way I thought dungeon pronounced as "dungeon", but actually its a "stylo" spelling for Dungun!) and all colorful people was entertained by 66sick Chicks as their first meal for the day. The crowd started to dance as soon as they heard the music and the place was packed with people in no time. Most of the band played 4-5 songs max, even though the crowd wanted more from each bands.

A few booth was opened in the hall such as Wearnvy, Oh Chentaku, two DIY stuffs booth, beverages booth and a bundle clothes booth. Oh Chentaku's merchandise was the hot item on the event.

A couple of hours later, the Authority came by to check out the event and by check out, I meant they are really checking out to clean that place up. The Authority stayed around while the bands playing inside the hall. Most of the crowd didnt care about the authority and kept dancing to the tunes. The event paused at 4.30pm for Asar prayer and started back at 5pm. 2nd act after the break was Oh Chentaku. The crowd sang along most of their songs and enjoyed the band even the Authority asked to lower down the volume and threaten the organizer that they will clean up the place if the organizer didnt do so.

By 6pm, the crowd started to go home as a few of them are scared of the Authority, which by the way was still around, hanging out at the lobby. We (me, the GegeyMusic Boss, and the Toyota man) didnt hang out long too, since one of us had to work later that night. But from what we've heard, the event was a success even though there was a lot of threats came out from the resort manager and the Authority. Half of the crowd took off earlier that evening but that doesnt make the event a failure at all. A few bands didnt play on the event such as Cannaris and Dailyshow; and their spots was replaced by Daisy Honey and a few other band.

And yes, the Authority was there till the end of the event. How sweet!

p/s; nobody was caught and nothing bad happened between the event and the Authority. Now that's the spirit!

Tecktonic

I’ve only been recently made aware of this scene in France, where contrary to what the cool kids think, techno is still relevant.

Media Propaganda; Note from the Boss.

the crowd

On 12th July 2008, the KAWAN Tour in Kelantan, we co-organized an independent show comprising of 8 bands including a Singapore band at Attack!Attack!.Almost 150 kids turned up. At approximately 5:30pm, when the 7th band was performing, authorities from the IPK Kelantan raided the premise and we were forced to halt the show. About 150 youths were arrested and detained for almost 7 hours without the presence of a warrant or any other solid reasons. All of the items at the premise were confiscated for further investigation by the authorities. This includes music equipments. Out of the 150 youths detained, no ONE tested positive for drugs. These youths were released from the police station at approximately 12am. However, one more youths were detained for further investigation and would be faced to a court hearing on the 28th July 2008.

We, at Gegey Music, would like to express our sincere and honest apology to all those who were directly or indirectly involved and detained, especially the youths who attended and showed their support this show. We would also like to express our gratitude and sincere apologies to the bands involved: Halventica . The Silent Melody , Givenpath , DaisyHoney , Cocksay Cockdung , The Panix , The Full Pledge Munkees and Plague Of Happiness.

Upon we speak, we are striving to take action on the false accusation thrown at us as a whole. In order to do this, we require much support from independent music scene itself. We have organized and co-organized various independent shows previously, and we would sincerely and gladly declare that we have neither participated nor abetted in any of these obscene elements mentioned, this includes the bands and performers we chose for our events.

Finally, we would like to again express our sincere apology and gratitude at the same time to all those who were involved directly or indirectly on this matter.

Respectfully yours,
The Boss
