Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan Al-Mubarak

Madrasah Ramadhan has come again. Alhamdulillah.

Let's welcome the month of Ramadhan, the month when Allah SWT is most gracious and generous to us. All of the rewards for our ibadah in this month will be multiplied by Allah SWT, so do take care of our fasting and other ibadah. It will be a waste if we don't increase the quality of our ibadah, be it through solat jamaah, solat sunat, reciting Al-Qur'an, do'a and supplications, by giving alms, preventing from doing maksiat and mungkar, and increasing our takwa to Allah SWT. And also increasing the quality of our studies or work and our bonds with our family, neighbours and friends.

May we have the strength and momentum to perform our ibadah so that this Ramadhan shall be a better Ramadhan than our previous ones.

MERDEKA!MERDEKA!MERDEKA!

Malaysia as we know it today is a thriving developing country, often considered a “role model” by its Southeast Asian neighbours for its economic and political stability, multicultural harmony and steady progress. 31st August 2008 marks the 51th year of this country's independence from British colonialism and the day the joyful, triumphant shouts of “Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!” resonated throughout the nation as Malaya's first Prime Minister, Allahyarham Tunku Abdul Rahman stood on a podium at Merdeka Square doing the same.

The name Malaya was then changed to Malaysia when the country was officially made a federation of 13 states including Sabah and Sarawak. Article 1(1) of the Federal Constitution states that "The federation shall be known, in Malay and English, as Malaysia". Although Singapore broke away and became a nation of its own in 1965, the rest of the states have remained firmly together, combining to make Malaysia the harmonious melting pot of cultures it is today.

From Cadillac To Geisha (Negeri Sembilan)

It began with a local arts & music festival that Acoi (who was an ex-drummer for a JB punk ska band, SWOL) asked a couple of friends, Fize (ex-guitarist Marionette), Dayak & Anas (guitars, vocals of Frozen) to play at the gig just for fun. They jammed a song Acoi wrote that was inspired by Damn Dirty Apes but the band soon disbanded because the gig was already full.

After in limbo for 2 weeks, Acoi and Fize decided to continue the band and they recruited Cheq to drums with Syuk already confirmed on bass as he and Acoi used to jammed together during their school days. After a couple of jam sessions they decided to get a vocalist to strengthen their music. It was hard to come by but a chance meeting with a friend soon led them to Elly, a girl with a penchant for killer melody and melancholic tunes.

The band functions as a place to channel their emotions such as fear, anger, hate & suffering into one cohesive sound that is rock & roll.

The music they make is a blend of different influences all rolled into one that seems like molecules moving at the speed of sound colliding with each other that will surely make tears roll down & people will drown in pool of infinite sadness but in spite of that, can also cure loneliness & bring joy to the broken hearted.

Love As Arson – New Album Title / Studio Update!

Hey Friends!

It's time for a quick update. Love As Arson are still in the studio recording. They have all the songs written and they're currently finishing up the vocals.

The name of the new album is...

HANGOVER

What in the world does that title mean? Well we based the title off this wiki wiki....

"A hangover (veisalgia) describes the sum of unpleasant physiological effects following heavy consumption of drugs , particularly alcoholic beverages. The most commonly reported characteristic of a hangover include headache , nausea , sensitivity to light and noise , lethargy , dysphoria and thirst."

Although the title sounds dark and depressing it is actually very positive and exciting. Its all about the start of a new life free from sin and all the other things life throws our way.

Our friend Wisdumb is working on the CD art for us right now. He's done CD art for Gegey Music Compilation Vol.1, Couple,  and tons of others. We're excited for you all to see it.

Hopefully you all dig this title.

We are totally stoked to post the first song off this album. Keep checking back for updates and let us know what you think!!

Givenpath (Kelantan)

Givenpath was formed by 4 high school students back in 2005; and now they're 18, matured (sort of) and enthusiast, they're taking one step further in the scene. The band members; Sheikh (lead guitar), Aham (2nd guitar), Shafiq (bass), Paes (drums) are influenced by Pink Floyd, Queen, Electric Light Orchestra, Rush, Dream theater & Sigur Ros. To spice up their sound, they've added another band member, Purji as the keyboardist in the band early this year. Their music is more to experimental instrumental-ish and an addition of a few solos, and they're trying not to sound too post rock. Currently they have 4 recorded songs (Cakerawala, Raining, Goodbye Juliet & As An Ugly Boy) and for a short term future plan, they wanted to produce those songs in their first demo sometime next year. So far, they've performed in a several events around the east coast region; Gegey Fest, Saturday Riot, & Kawan Tour to name a few.

From their recorded tracks, even though a lot of people digs "Cakerawala", my pick is "As An Ugly Boy". It's more to mellow-ish song, kinda remind me of Sergeant Weener's Arms' tracks from back in the day. We, Gegey Music, hope that Givenpath will be given a chance to spread their wings and fly because somehow, they have the elements to take another step forward in their music carrier. Thumbs up and a high five.

Ore Ska Band – Japan

ORESKABAND is an all-female ska band from Sakai, Japan. They have released two full albums in Japan, Ore in July 2006, and WAO!! in May 2007, as well as a self-titled compilation album for a US release, ORESKABAND. They have performed both in Japan and the United States, including the Fuji Rock Festival. Their songs have been featured as the 14th ending theme for the anime Naruto and the 11th ending theme for the anime Bleach.

The band name, "ore ska band," literally translates as "we're (a) ska band." While "ore" is normally an extremely masculine and casual way to say "I" in Japanese and the suffix "-tachi" is added to personal nouns when emphasizing that they are plural, it's clear in this context that "ore" means something more along the lines of "we fellows." The choice of "ore" is also one of gender play, as the band usually appear wearing boy's school uniform in their videos and concerts.

Members

  • Ikasu - Guitar, Vocals
  • Tae-san - Drums
  • Leader - Pink Trombone
  • Saki - Trumpet
  • Moriko - Saxophone
  • Tomi - Fender Bass, Vocals
