Starstruck: Alex.

Hello minions. April is near and so far, March was awesome for us. We had Upstart's Secret Show with Seven Collar T-Shirt & Hello, Is This The Band? (which was a big success since it was the fourth time Seven Collar T-Shirt attempted to perform at Kota Bharu) and we had White Noise/The Battle Protocol; The Seven Collar T-Shirt's tour. We hope that April will be full of excitement more than ever.
And since it's almost the end of the month, I'd like to continue the end-of-the-month-column; Startstruck. This month we interviewed Alex from Singapore. She's the ex-guitarist of For Better Endings and current band member of Blinfold Hero. Let's dig her in, shall we?

Q: Hello. Tell us your full name, nickname and position in the band.
A: My full name is Chan Tzu Anne Alexandra Nicole and I play guitars
Q: Please state you previous and current band.
A: I was from FOR BETTER ENDINGS now i'm in BLINDFOLD HERO
Q: What do you do for living?
A: I do not do anything I just play music HAHA
Q: Please state 5 songs that you've been listening to lately.
A:
- Have Heart - On That Bird In The Cage
- Refused - New Noise
- The Bloody Beetroots - WARP 1.9
- Skindred - Pressure
- Set Your Goals - Gaia Bleeds
Weird mix I know! HAHA
Q: What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
A: Well I can't put my finger on a specific genre but mostly metal and hardcore influences. We don't look to any specific band but whatever sounds good to us
Q:What can you tell me about your instruments? (i.e., Are you subject to brand loyalty or will you play with whatever's available? What made you choose the instruments you have now? Was it cost or was it a style/model/brand/color preference?
A: Well my I use a Gibson Les Paul Goddess. It's white. I think I will be sticking to Gibson for a really long time. The only other brand that could compete in my opinon, is a Paul Reed Smith (PRS).
Q: What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
A: Well I guess the biggest challenge for me was adjusting to a new band where the norms for me aren't the norms for them so as a band, I feel the biggest challenge we had to face is the new direction we are headed to. Since the line up change, our music has taken a slight twist that we really hope people will appreciate
Q: What's your favorite place to go eat together? (with your bandmates)
A: Hajah Esah! The best maggi goreng seafood! If anyone is in Singapore come to Bussorah Street and try!
Q: Which show that you've played has been your favorite so far?
A: Well since i started with Blindfold Hero, it has definately been the debut with the new line up at Homeclub but with For Better Endings, it's a toss between Baybeats 2009 and Gegey Fest at MCPA hall extremely EPIC.
Q: What's your LEAST favorite part of being in a band?
A: Oh well, the least favorite part is the fact that there's way too much gossip going around. We just have to know that we can't please everyone and move on!
Q: Hayley Williams, Katy Perry or Zooey Deschanel?
A: ZOOEY!
Q: Imagine you’re watching a concert and one of the band members spontaneously combusts. You get called to the stage to replace that band member. Who’s the band?
A: HAHA! What a question, well it'll have to be without a doubt Story Of The Year
Q: Strangest venue or gig you’ve ever played?
A: Well, i've played at a church, is that weird?
Q: Honestly, what do you think about Gegey Music?
A: I have been with Gegey music for quite a while now, they have definitely been a plattform for bands to get noticed regionally. I have made alot of new friends from Malaysia and Indonesia and for that I am truely grateful. Last but not least, THEY KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR BANDS
Cheers, Alex. And all the best for your new band. Check them out! Blinfold Hero Official Facebook Page.

Live @ Upstart Secret Show, Hotel Rebana Homestay Bachok Kelantan.
Post Gig: White Noise/ Seven Collar T-Shirt’s The Battle Protocol Tour; Terengganu.
White Noise; Seven COllar T-Shirt's The Great Battle Tour was held at Motel Desa Kuala Terengganu, last Saturday. The show was supposed to start at 1pm, but instead it started at 4pm due to a few technical difficulties. Nowhere To Run started off the show with 4 of their energetic songs and followed by Sneaky Sniper on the second act. Our very own Hello, Is This The Band took the stage and amazed Terengganu crowd with their 4 pop-ish yet catchy songs. It was their debut show in Kuala Terengganu and the crowd welcomed them very well.
The main act, Seven Collar T-Shirt played third with a mix up of new and old songs. This is their fourth venue for their "The Battle Protocol" tour right after SoundMaker Studio & Esplanade in Penang and Rebana Homestay in Kota Bharu. They allured the crowd with "Wild Child", "Lucky You", & "Faith" to name a few before they ended their slot.
The Padang riotised the place with their scream-o-matic "No Mercy" and "What's Wrong With You?". Right after The Padangs, the crowd enjoyed the smooth and relaxing reggae tunes by Pure Vibracion. Dichi Michi continued the show with their pop-punk & hip songs and had the crowd jumping all around the place. Mad Monster Attack ended the show with their electro dub core thingga majingga which made the crowd craved for more.
Check 'em out for their updates, upcoming shows, etc.

DC Fest – Review.

DC Fest was held last Saturday, Feb 28th at Dewan Rekreasi & Serbaguna Kong Ee, Dungun. The show started at 3pm, with a pleasant amount of crowd. 12 bands performed on that day including Restraint, Avalon Whisper, Dichi Michi, Oh Chentaku & our own Hello, Is This The Band?. Most of the bands played their new numbers and played their best to satisfy the crowd.
Oh Chentaku performed last for the evening session before an hour break to pay respect for Maghrib period and the show started back again around 8.30pm with Mad Monster Attack, Dungun's own Electro-hardcore band. Hello, Is This the Band played 3rd last before Restraint and Sipnosis. The show ended around 11.30pm. There's nothing much to say about the show, actually. But we do know that it was worth the trip from our HQ to Dungun for a mixed up hardcore powerpop electro punk emo show. Kudos Dungeon Community! Looking foward for the next fest next year!
