Starstruck: Mior.
Oh hello everybody. It's been a while since I wrote something nonsense here. I've been catching up with a few things, not that you guys care in the first place. :/ Anyhoooo, so far April has been the catching-up-with-life month for us. A few of us are busy with work, and a few others are plain meditating. Haha. Don't forget, guys. TYPECAST next month! Both KL session and Singapore session.
Before I forget, I'd like to say good luck for those who're getting married in May and June. All the best and you'll enjoy your new life, really. I'm pretty happy for you guys. YOU GUYS RULE.
But not as rule as this person right here. Yes yes. It's that time of the month, AGAIN! No no, not "red light" time of the month, but the Starstruck segment!
This time we'd like to present to you, our dearly beloved, a gay good friend of us, Mior of Oh Chentaku.

Q: Tell us your full name, nickname and position in the band.
A: Mior Luqman Hakim Bin Mior Mohd Zain, however friends have been spelling my name as Myo eversince. I play guitar and sing for the band.
Q: What do you do for living?
A: I work as Duty Manager at Equatorial Cameron Highlands and earned some extra cash from prostituting my ass. *LOL*
Q: Please state 5 songs that you've been listening to lately.
A: 1. Same Thing We Do Everyday Pinky by Broadway
2. She's Got You High by Mumm-Ra
3. Keep My Secrets Safe by Saosin
4. Selamat Malam by Faizal Tahir
5. Drama King by Meet Uncle Hussain
Q: What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
A: Major influences are Typecast, Taking Back Sunday, a little bit of Paramore and Parkway Drive. Thus, making us some sort of Post-Hardcore band, however I dig unplugged set and it shows the sensitive part of the band.
Q: When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
A: The band was formed like 3 years back and it came about when we started to jam together for a so-called prom band named as The Confetti, initially to play at high school proms. However, the idea of forming a prom band turned into a Post-Hardcore band and THAT I still didn't get how the fuck we ended up like this.
Q:What can you tell me about your instruments? (i.e., Are you subject to brand loyalty or will you play with whatever's available? What made you choose the instruments you have now? Was it cost or was it a style/model/brand/color preference?
A: I'm not very particular about my gears. As long as it sounds good and it shaped well. Perhaps, cheap.
Q: What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
A: No, we don't. We hardly get ample of free times to rehearse, therefore we used the shows as jamming sessions, fun is the objective anyways. Fuck rehearse! *LOL*
Q: What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
A: The biggest challenge would be finding a sessionist for big shows. I need a back up for my thrums and sings damn it!
Q: What's your favorite place to go eat together? (with your bandmates)
A: Mamak Jati, it's cheap and tasted excellent. Bon appetite!
Q: What's your favorite part of being in a band?
A: Being handsomely famous. *LOL* No, its the feeling of being in a band has already shows everything you ever wanted. You get connections and the stage to show off your talent.
Q: What's your LEAST favorite part?
A: Having to drive alone especially when I don't get a day off and I still need to drive down to KL to play a show and drive back to Cameron Highlands before my shift starts.
Q: Hayley Williams, Katy Perry or Hannah Tan?
A: Katy Perry is so ridiculously delicious!
Q: Strangest venue or gig you’ve ever played?
A: Attack! Attack! Studio *LOL* I was just kidding, well, the weirdest place I've ever played a show at would be when I was still with my Punk Rock band skyjuicecoffee (few years ago) and we played at Pasar Borong Serdang, where all the popos were selling buckets of sayur!
Q: Honestly, what do you think about Gegey Music?
A: Gegey Music is too sexy, I wet my boxer when I first met the people behind Gegey Music! No, seriously!
Check this funny little man's band out! Oh Chentaku's Myspace & Oh Chentaku's Facebook Fan page. Thanks Mior! xoxo
Daarchlea Updates!

It had been more than 6 months since I had seen Daarchlea live and I can see that the boys have used this time wisely. The band as a whole has matured and so have their sound. The four song set from their live promo ‘Daarchlea’ interspersed with new songs that were quite refined. Daarchlea played with energy and determination and showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Malaysia music scene. It is not hard to imagine that the Daarchlea boys will soon be headlining big gigs both here in Malaysia and over east in the not too distant future.

The Padangs Album Launch
Local Metal / Hardcore / Alternative band The Padangs launch their debut album this July.
Recorded at One Bandshop Studios, the debut album is a product of a that has seen the band evolve with a refocused and refined sound; the tracks are a late-night blend of livewire drums and driving bass, punctuated by melodic guitar lines and impassioned vocals. The debut album displays a wide-screen flourish as evidenced between the melodic propulsion of ‘K2’, the sharp dark groove that is ‘Judas’, the sombre acoustic ‘Saunders St’ and the defiant optimism of live favourite ‘No Mercy’.
1 tracks from the debut album are now available at: http://www.myspace.com/thepadangs
An All Ages launch will follow on July at Dragonfly Club.

TYPECAST – MAY 9TH 2010

One of my favourite Pino bands of the moment Typecast are coming down to Malaysia.
If your athletic ability has been reduced to jumping fences at gigs and if you take pride in ripping off door stamps with thick texta, then you will also like this show.
So we know you kids must love Typecast a hell of a lot.
