Beat The Scene : Unexpected Mercy
This band Unexpected Mercy divides me in so many ways. On one hand, I've found their sound refreshing and instantly appealing, but at the same time I've been listing the bands they appear to be ripping off. One minute I'll be digging a melody, the next cursing them for repetition. There's so much contradiction going on, I'm beginning to wonder if we're schizophrenic. But whatever the case, this is a band to watch. They have a number of very strong songs that are sure to get some attention. In fact, it's more than likely I'll be hating them in about a year, meaning they're set to do quite well. They hail from Kuala Lumpur and will be coming to Kota Bharu soon to play a shows. Both my selves will be keen to see how they go.

i just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out yesterday. it was truly amazing and i can't even describe how proud i was of everyone. people were falling in the gravel (yeah i know..sorry about that setup) and people were helping people up and being completely respectable of everyone. Gegey Music represent..great thing to be a part of.
and THAANK YOU to all of the bands. you were all amazing and it went completely great. we couldn't have asked for better.
Attack Of The Indie Kids – This Coming April.
That's right the Attack Of The Indie Kids is coming again and in April 2011 it will be in the form of the Gegey Music Festival, another relatively recent addition to the festival scene that specializes more in the indie pop genre.
We’re super excited to be teaming up with our good friends to present a show this April at Rebana Hotel in Kota Bharu with lotsa amazing bands: OH CHENTAKU, Mad Monster's Attack,Dichi Michi and Hello, is this the band?. “August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang’s 8 piece-live band met up on an island in the Danish country side. The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.
Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their Magic Chairs album. It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated play mates.”

Daarchlea – Dher Phalse Mesaya
One of the bands currently rising to the top of the scene in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia (… too soon.. or late?) have spent the past couple of years being Kuala Lumpur’s best kept secret, playing enthusiastic and passionate shows supporting some of the best international.
Get ready to be blown away by Daarchlea new single "Dher Phalse Mesaya" - sonic asthetic can be attributed to their strict writing and recording processes.
I think it’s their best yet. The arrangements are quite sparse compared with their earlier work, but it’s a good thing. Solid songs should be given room to breathe.

Anamys Affair!
One of the bands playing the UPSTART show yesterday , is sextet Alternative Rock kids Anamys Affair. Fresh from their appearance at Attack!Attack!studio, Anamys Affair are combining forces with Joanna Joe , The Duplex and 199x. Sure, there are a lot of dreadful covers bands and a few originals bands that are inexplicably worse, but there is some cool quirky stuff going on.
So far the band have released two mighty impressive live records,can download FOR FREE!!!
Did I mention it was free? … and nothing tastes better than free. Catch ya there.
